Darren Mendel
Legal Executive, Head of Defendant Personal Injury Deparment
- Personal Injury
- Insurance Fraud
Darren specialises in all aspects of personal injury law with particular emphasis on credit hire and motor insurance fraud. In recent times he has advised a number of insurers on an exit strategy from the ABI/GTA with a view to those insurers taking up the resurgent fight against credit hire and in particular devising intervention schemes which has had huge success and culminated in the cases of Copley v Lawn and Maden v Haller being won at both District Judge and Circuit Judge levels. The Court of Appeal will hear further appeals later this year.
On fraud Darren has a particular interest in defending exaggerated injuries, low velocity impacts and phantom passenger claims. The recent case of Fleetwood v Hewitt in Leeds County Court was one of Darren’s latest victories.
Outside of work, Darren is a big sports fan with football, golf and cricket his favourites.
